After 16 years of tests, essays, worksheets, readings, and the occasional nap time (oh how I miss thee!). . .
I have finally graduated from college!!!!!
This means two major things
1. I now have a fancy piece of paper that has my name on it and says I did things
2. I now have to adult and commence the act of adulting.
I have come to the conclusion that there are two words that need to be defined:
"being an adult" , and "adulting"
Being an adult (verb)- the state of being that is achieved once the homo sapien leaves the state of adolescence . . . by U.S. law the age of 18
Adulting (verb) - The act of doing responsible, adult like things (i.e. paying taxes, changing a tire, balancing a checkbook, financing a mortgae, etc.)
As is evidenced by my popcorn and caffeine-induced cheering at Jurassic World last night, and sleep deprived Netflix binging (neglecting, of course, packing, laundry, personal hygiene and the like).... while I may be an adult, I have not yet been able to adult.
Now, with my fancy pants college degree (read "piece of paper") in hand... I now have to adult. I can see it now:
Me: Hello I'd like to buy this car. . .
Car Salesperson: Sir you have a great choice there, with a V4 motor and autobreaking systems with a great deal of $200 a month and an APR of 3%. . .
Me: ummmmmmm yeah what's a motor?
Heaven help us all . . .
